CLASS DESCRIPTION Precalculus is a two semester course which will review a number of Algebra 2 concepts (for example, logarithms, matrices, sequences and series, etc.) and introduce both math analysis and trigonometry topics. The course will prepare students for Calculus 1AB AP at the high school or beginning Calculus at the college or university level. The CA state standards for this course can be found at http://cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/mthmain.asp.
Also, students should be prepared to take the SAT Mathematics Level 2 subject test. More information on this test can be found at http://www.collegeboard.com.
This course is designed to meet university, state, and community college mathematics requirements. This course will provide powerful tools and methods for solving day to day problems as well as tools necessary for continuing the study of mathematics.

Class Announcements
WELCOME TO THE MOORPARK WEBSITE FOR PRECALCULUS TAUGHT BY MR. SHAPIRO
My name is Robert Shapiro. Over the years I have taught nearly every math class at the junior and high school levels. I will periodically update this site with new announcements.
NEW BOOKS
We have a new PreCalculus book (our 3rd year) entitled PreCalculus 5th Edition, Mathematics for Calculus, Stewart, et al.
Students are to bring their textbooks to class every day, starting the first day of school, Wednesday, August 25th.
In addition, please bring a single subject (only for this class) spiral daily to class and sharpened pencils. I would like to encourage students to purchase graph paper spirals rather than lined paper spirals if possible. I also suggest colored pencils. Lastly, a TI83+ or higher graphing calculuator is highly recommended for all PreCalculus classes here at MHS as we will be using it often. Also, Calculus 1AB (and BC Calculus) requires a graphing calculator so you might as well purchase it now.
